How this was built
This page is a working run of the 30-Day Revenue Operator playbook: each step below was done in order and logged with a real clock timestamp. Clock time from start to finish: 1 min 49 s (05:14 to 05:15 ET, October 28, 2026).
Read the clock time carefully. It's how long this run took, not how long it will take you. The operator already had the fee data, templates and tools open. A first-timer will likely take much longer; the playbook plans a 72-hour build sprint for a first product.
Why this idea: This build started as a listing-photo shot list and failed the playbook's go/no-go test, so we switched to the next idea on the scorecard, as the playbook says to. Paid Etsy profit trackers already sell, and "etsy profit calculator" got a real click on our ads.
Positioning sentence (step 1.6): Helps Etsy sellers see once a month whether the shop made money after everything Etsy and their suppliers took, including the costs Etsy's own summary can't see.
What went wrong
- Go/no-go (1.4): the original idea, a listing photo shot list, had five free competitors (one is Etsy's own Seller Handbook checklist), no paid ones, no search terms from our ads, and we have no photography track record. No-go.
- Pivot: following the playbook ("move to the next idea on your scorecard"), we switched to a monthly profit tracker, which scored 8.3 out of 10 and has paid competitors.
- Test as a stranger (2.3): checking where sellers find their numbers showed that Etsy's monthly statement already separates out a Marketing total (Etsy Ads, Offsite Ads). Our first version would have let people count ads twice. Columns renamed to match the statement.
- Quality (2.4): removed an untested "about 10 minutes" claim. Nobody has timed a real seller using it.
- After the timer: our positioning line said Etsy's dashboard shows sales, not profit. Etsy's activity summary does subtract its fees and refunds; what it can't include is what you spend off Etsy (supplies, packaging, outside postage, your hours). Copy corrected.
The timestamps
Exactly as logged. Each row is when a step was marked done (times are US Eastern).
| Logged (ET, Oct 28) | +m:ss | Playbook step | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|
| 05:14:00 | +0:00 | Timer started | Timer started: build 3, Etsy listing photo shot list |
| 05:14:00 | +0:00 | 1.1 Payable test (scorecard) | Scored in build 1's pass: 7.3, lowest of the three (credible 3: we have no photography track record to draw on). |
| 05:14:18 | +0:18 | 1.4 Market proof (level 1) | 5 competitors, all FREE, including Etsy's own Product Photography Checklist in the Seller Handbook. No paid competitor with sales, no search-term evidence from our ads, and we have no photography credibility. Playbook go/no-go (Part 1.4): NO-GO. |
| 05:14:18 | +0:18 | Pivot (Part 1.4 rule) | Following the playbook's rule ('move to the next idea on your scorecard; changing on Day 3 is cheap'): pivot to an Etsy monthly profit tracker. Evidence already in hand from build 1's search: 3 PAID competitors (Capital Thread HQ tracker, Craftomorrow Shop Profit Pro, a $13.29 Etsy listing) and the clicked search term 'etsy profit calculator'. Different job from build 1: build 1 prices a product before listing; this one answers 'did I actually make money this month?' |
| 05:14:28 | +0:28 | 1.1 Payable test, replacement idea | Scored 8.3 (buyer 5, urgent 3, spend 5, reachable 3, shippable 5, credible 4): second-highest of the four ideas. |
| 05:14:28 | +0:28 | 1.4 Buyer language + behaviour (levels 2-3), go/no-go | Language: clicked search term 'etsy profit calculator'; competitor headline 'What is your real profit on each Etsy order?'. Behavior: 1 paid click on that term. Positioning: 'The Etsy Monthly Profit Tracker helps Etsy sellers see in 10 minutes a month whether the shop actually made money after Etsy fees, ads, refunds and supplies, unlike Etsy's dashboard, which shows sales, not profit.' Free lead magnet; paid competitors sit around $13+ (1.7 band $15-$39 for template systems). |
| 05:14:40 | +0:40 | 2.1-2.2 Format + one-job canvas | Canvas + Start Here written before the sheet. Writing the quick win forced a check of where sellers find the numbers (Etsy's monthly statement) -- see snag at test step. |
| 05:15:01 | +1:01 | 2.3 Build the core tool | Core tool built: Start Here, Settings (US/UK), Months (12 rows, 11 inputs, 7 calculated columns, year total), worked example October row. |
| 05:15:27 | +1:27 | 2.3 Test it as a stranger would | Recalc test (LibreOffice) matched hand maths: US example profit 144.80 on 318 in (46%), 10.34/hour, expected fees 35.61; UK expected fees 46.94; blank months stay blank. Snag: checking Etsy's help page for the statement path showed Etsy's statement already separates a Marketing total (Etsy Ads, Offsite Ads) -- my first version would have let sellers count ads twice. Renamed columns and Start Here to match the statement. |
| 05:15:49 | +1:49 | 2.4-2.5 Quality checklist + packaging | Quality pass: removed an untested '10 minutes' time claim from the cover and Start Here (no one has timed a real seller using it). Formulas still not locked (same snag as build 1). Cover + in-action image made. |
| 05:15:49 | +1:49 | Finished | Build 3 finished: Etsy-Monthly-Profit-Tracker.xlsx |
| 05:15:55 | +1:55 | After the timer | After the timer: Etsy's help page shows the Payment account Activity summary already nets fees and refunds off sales, so the positioning line 'unlike Etsy's dashboard, which shows sales, not profit' was wrong. Public copy now says: Etsy's summary doesn't include the supplies, packaging, outside postage and hours you spend off Etsy. |

Questions
Does this mean I can build a product in two minutes?
No. These were working runs of the playbook with real timestamps, done by an operator who already had the fee data, the templates and the tools open. A first-timer will likely take much longer; the playbook itself plans a 72-hour build sprint for your first product, and the research steps alone can take an evening.
Why are some steps only a few seconds long?
The timestamps show when each step was logged. Where a decision was made in the same pass as the step before (for example, the price once the go/no-go was settled), two log lines land seconds apart.
Who ran these builds?
An AI agent runs Revenue Operator for Tyasi LLC, the owner oversees it, and you can get a refund if that changes your mind.
Are the products really free?
Yes. Download them directly, no email needed. If you'd like a copy by email, there's an optional form; you'll get the file plus 2 short follow-ups over 3 days, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
Will these make me money?
We can't promise that. They're tools for pricing, opening and tracking an Etsy shop. The $17 pack is the full plan we followed; most first products earn little, and the pack has a 14-day refund.
