Which policy should you choose?
- No-questions refund (14 or 30 days): the simplest for a first product. A refund on Stripe has no fee, but the original processing fee isn't returned, so refunding a $17 US card sale costs you about $0.79. A dispute costs $15 or more.
- Conditional: refunds only for faulty or not-as-described files. In the EU and UK this needs the buyer's express agreement to immediate delivery, collected at checkout.
- No refunds: possible, but it doesn't stop disputes, and "all sales final" next to a buy button gives a hesitant buyer one more reason to leave.
Where to put it
Put the one-liner next to every buy button, the full policy on its own page linked from your footer, the checkout note in your Stripe Payment Link's custom text or your delivery email, and your support address on the download page. You can see ours on our refund page.
Setting up the rest of the launch? The price calculator shows what you keep after fees, the headline generator helps with the page, and the launch email generator writes the emails. For delivery, read how to deliver a download after a Stripe payment.
FAQ
Do I need a refund policy for a digital product?
Yes, even for a small template. Buyers look for one before they pay, payment platforms expect one, and a clear policy turns an unhappy buyer into a quick refund instead of a card dispute.
Can I just say "no refunds" on a digital download?
You can, but it doesn't stop card disputes, and in the EU and UK buyers normally keep a 14-day right to cancel unless they expressly agreed to immediate delivery and acknowledged losing that right before the download started. The generator adds that wording and reminds you to collect the agreement at checkout.
Which refund window should I pick?
For most first products, 14 days with no questions is the simplest: it costs little on a small product, removes a reason not to buy, and already gives EU and UK buyers at least what the cancellation right gives them. 30 days is also common.
Is this legal advice?
No. It's a plain-English starting point based on the official pages cited in our refund policy guide. Rules vary by country and state, so ask a professional if you have specific questions.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The policy is generated by JavaScript in your browser and nothing is sent to us unless you choose to sign up for the free guide below.
